From the Principal's Desk . . .

Recently I have been reading from the book of Joshua in the Old Testament.  It is an encouraging book, with famous/favorite verses like “But as for me and my househould, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15b) and “...be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God will be with you...” (Joshua 1:9).  But I have noticed something else as a theme through this book:  When Joshua and his armies fought on their own, they were often defeated - even in situations where they were fighting in “right ways” or with “good motives”.  When they recognized and surrendered control - allowing that the Lord was fighting for them and giving them instructions, they always were victorious.  How often do we try to “fight the good fight” on our own?  Even when we are trying to do good things, we need the Lord to direct our paths!  May you consult and seek the Lord’s direction, and He will fight for you victoriously!

In Christ,
Mr. Horning
