Talent Show . . .

The Talent show is coming soon- three weeks! We are still looking for some help with set up, cooking, and clean up.  If you are free on Friday, February 26th and would like to help, please let Mrs. Stribling know!  Auditions for the talent show were held today at the end of school. If you wanted to audition but didn't make it, please contact Mrs. Stribling to set up a time.

All school field trip to see Peter and the Wolf . . .

On Friday, April 15th, CLA will be attending the Illinois Symphony Orchestra's performance of Peter and the Wolf at the BCPA.  We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to drive and chaperone the trip.  We would be leaving CLA between 8:45-9am and returning around 1pm.  If you are interested in helping us out, please contact Mrs. Stribling!

We will have some extra tickets available for the performance at the cost of $6 per ticket.  These tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis once we have acquired the necessary number of drivers.  If you are interested in obtaining tickets, please email Mrs. Stribling at astribling@clacademy.org.

Easter Program . . .

If you haven't marked your calendars for Thursday, March 17th, make sure you do!  You don't want to miss the Kingdom Connection, this year's Easter program.  The K-8th grade students have begun rehearsals and will continue for the next 6 weeks.  We are still looking for a slingshot, 3 small dry erase boards, and some stanchions and rope (the holders and ropes that help form waiting lines!) If you have any of these items and would be willing to let us borrow them, please contact Mrs. Stribling!

Band events . . .

Solo and Ensemble contest is coming up!!!  Saturday, February 27th starting at 9am at CLA (final classroom location TBD- stay tuned!)  As a "practice" run, both bands will be traveling to the Commons to perform their solos.  Beginning band will go on Thursday, February 11th, and Advanced band will go Tuesday, February 16th.  We will depart CLA at 12:45 and return close to the end of band time.

Our policy is that students will go out for recess every day, unless the weather is very cold (temperature or windchill well below freezing) or precipitation prevents outside recess.  So please make sure that students have hats, gloves and warm coats.  On days when snow is on the ground, children may play in the snow if they have boots.

From the Principal's Desk . . .

We were blessed by having Mrs. Young and a small group of 7th/8th grade girls lead our chapel this week.  Their message, using the verse from Acts 1:8, was about how we can reach the entire world for Christ through sharing with our friends and neighbors.  We are looking forward to this group sharing with us several more times in the month of February, and to opportunities to share Jesus with others! Pray for them as they plan these upcoming chapels, and for our entire student body as they hear the word and prepare to tell others about Jesus.

In Christ,
Mr. Horning
