REMINDER: Enrollment 2017-18 . . .

Even though the early enrollment deadline has passed, we still encourage families to enroll now to make plans solid for next year.  There are openings at all grade levels PreK-10th grade.  Share this with friends!

Accelerated Reader Store NEXT WEEK!

Our students have continued to read extensively, and this reading accomplishment will be celebrated with the third AR store for the year on Wednesday, April 26.

Standardized Testing first week in May . . .

Annually, CLA administers standardized tests to all of our K-9 students.  We don’t focus on the test as much as seeing the progress and grade level equivalencies for our students.  It also gives us a good idea what areas of focus we should have to make sure the students are receiving the best instruction possible.  K students do one test - language/reading (the GRADE).  1st-4th grade students take both the GRADE and a math test (GMADE).  5th-9th graders take a battery of tests covering multiple different subject matters (Stanford 10).  During the test week, we remind families to make sure that students get adequate sleep and a good breakfast!

June 2nd Golf Outing coming up! No Golf Skills Required! Find a way to participate!

The 10th Annual CLA Golf Outing will be held on Friday, June 2nd, at Bluegrass Creek Golf Course in Minier. We encourage all CLA families to get involved in some way -  volunteer, come eat lunch and watch the golfers, or, of course, play in the event if you are interested.  Most of all, we encourage you to PROMOTE this event to friends and family. Although it is not nearly the large event of Life Days, the CLA Golf Outing is actually nearly one third of the financial benefit of Life Days!   Please help us spread the word.  Packets were sent home yesterday with all the details.

From the Principal's Desk

What is your purpose? I have been thinking about this, and the recent reminder from I Peter 3:18 of Jesus’s purpose - “to bring us to God,” resonated with me.  If we are to be like Jesus, then we also want to create ways for those around us to be brought to God!  I pray that more may know the Lord through what we do at CLA!

In Christ,

Mr. Horning
