Again we ask you to pass on some information, which will also be published in newspapers. Christian Life Academy will host open house events on Thursday, February 25 from 1-5 p.m. and Tuesday, March 1 from 3-7 p.m. Families are encouraged to visit the school during these open house hours, or any other day by making an appointment with the office. Thank you for Supporting the Scholastic Book Fair

Mrs. Barb Lawson reports that the Scholastic Book Fair sponsored by the Preschool was a great success! Approximately $600 of books were purchase, which means that $240 in free books for our classrooms were earned! The majority of these books will be used to enhance our preschool and school age classroom libraries. Thank you!

From the Principal's Desk

Have you been enjoying the Winter Olympic Games? In chapel on Monday we talked about how our Lord asks us to work, just like a trained athlete, in sharing our faith with those around us. Just like Olympic athletes represent their country as they compete for the prize of a gold medal, we too represent our Heavenly Kingdom as we strive for the ultimate prize – eternity in Heaven with the Lord. As we stress this at home, school and church, I am encouraged that our children will compete as Olympians do – but for the ultimate prize. Let's continue to work together toward that goal!

Winter Weather Notes

posted Dec 7, 2009 7:25 PM by Ben Griggs   [ updated Dec 7, 2009 7:28 PM ]

With the snow falling last night and expected this week, here are a few tidbits of information related to school and the weather.

  1. Outside recess will sometimes be held on days when there is snow on the ground. ALL STUDENTS should have gloves, hats, warm coats and boots. Those students who do not have boots may be restricted from playing in the snow to avoid getting shoes wet.

  2. We will always err on the side of caution in allowing students to play outside, so if they do not have appropriate jackets/gloves/hats to stay warm, we may not allow them to play outside if it is an outside recess day. Please make sure they have proper warm clothing.

  3. In the event that school is delayed or closed due to the weather, we ALWAYS follow the Olympia School District decision, so you can watch/listen for Olympia's announcement. Our delay and closing announcements will also be broadcast on WEEK 25 TV and WCIC 91.5 radio.

CLA Announces New Classes for Middle School Students

posted May 21, 2009 12:11 PM by Joshua Horning

Lab Science, Algebra 1 and Creative Writing added for 2009-2010

Christian Life Academy, located in Hopedale, has enjoyed a successful first year of classes for students in grades K-8.  Building upon this success, the school will be offering expanded options for students in their older classes for the upcoming 2009-2010 school year.

CLA middle school students will have the opportunity to expand their learning through a hands-on laboratory science course, improve their writing fluency and skill through creative writing, and continue to build their Spanish language knowledge.  These courses will be offered twice weekly and will be open to home-school students just as CLA's Spanish class was offered in 2008-2009.  The Spanish class will again be offered for returning and new students.  Science and Spanish will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon, while the creative writing course days and times are yet to be determined.  Students are welcome to register for one or more classes, as tuition discounts will be offered for multiple classes and multiple students from the same family.

Additionally, an Algebra 1 course will be offered at the school. Building the foundation of upper level mathematics is quite important, and the course will be taught by an experienced algebra teacher.  This course will be open to home school families as well, for students who have completed some pre-algebra material and are ready for the challenge of Algebra 1.  This course will be offered 3-4 days per week and is intended for students in grade 8.

For more information on the middle school program at Christian Life Academy, for general information about our K-8 program, or to register your child at CLA, please contact the school office at 309-449-3346 or email office@clacademy.org.  Christian Life Academy offers a comprehensive curriculum with its foundation on the Bible.  Christian Life Academy, Inc., admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.

Christian Life Academy Spotlight: Swimming in PE

posted Apr 17, 2009 8:19 PM by Ben Griggs   [ updated Apr 24, 2009 11:06 AM by Joshua Horning ]

Developing a lifelong habit of exercise and fitness is very important, and Christian Life Academy and the Hopedale Wellness Center will encourage CLA students to develop this habit by using swimming and pool safety classes as part of the CLA physical education program.

In the fall of 2008, all ages of CLA students had lessons once per week, and CLA students currently have one open swim class each week. Christian Life Academy wishes to thank Hopedale Medical Complex and the Wellness Center for this opportunity.

These swimming sessions are a part of the regular physical education program that is being developed at Christian Life Academy. Other facets of the program include games and activities that develop fitness as well as coordination and skills for participation in organized sports. Plans are also in place to develop athletic competition opportunities, including basketball and golf.

Christian Life Academy, a private Christian elementary school located in Hopedale, is accepting registrations for all elementary grades. Contact Principal Josh Horning at (309) 449-3346 or office@clacademy.org. CLA admits students of any race, color, and ethnic or national origin.
